The purpose of the Payroll Master Data Specialist is to conduct the functions associated with payroll master data for the company, including US, Canada and Australia. This individual displays discretion and confidentiality in their everyday interactions. The Payroll Master Data Specialist will address matters as it relates to the employee’s payroll record such as pay additions and deductions, pre-payroll time activities and updates to benefit tables. A Specialist will interact with field personnel to provide a high level of customer service.

The Master Data Specialist position is part of the Kiewit Business Services Payroll Processing department within the Payroll group.

This is a shared services environment in Kiewit Business Center, a Professional office setting in Omaha, NE


  • Process employee master data requests

  • Process employee pay additions

  • Process United Way and deduction requests

  • Address IRS Lock-in Letters

  • Manage and update Craft Benefit Tables as needed

  • Assist with process improvement surrounding Master Data procedures and workflows

  • Provide excellent customer service to all internal and external Kiewit departments; understands Kiewit’s core business and promote a sense of urgency toward business critical issues

  • Follow processes, procedures and internal controls

  • Communicate and collaborate with team members to achieve excellence in the Payroll Master Data Group

  • Field phone calls and emails from operations and support/guide with payroll knowledge

  • Reliable and consistent attendance

  • Support and participate in collaboration activities to promote and implement continuous process improvement

  • Other job-related tasks as needed or assigned

  • Ability to interact professionally with all levels of personnel while simultaneously managing a diversified workload and challenging situations efficiently and effectively

  • Prior Payroll experience preferred

  • SAP background preferred

  • Some accounting knowledge preferred

  • Ability to travel as needed, < 5% and must hold a US Passport if traveling to Canada

  • Lifting, sitting, stooping, bending, reaching, climbing stairs, etc.

  • Reading from a computer or laptop monitor for several hours including fonts of various sizes from a variety of sources
