Primary Responsibilities

• Determines methods and solutions for complex piping engineering stress analysis problems and selects the most efficient and economical manner in meeting the objectives

• Applies advanced engineering techniques and analysis within the piping stress group

• This level of engineer is a fully qualified professional, proficient in the utilization of current engineering theories and practices

• May serve as a technical consultant in area of stress engineer specialist for management or the client, will be expected to lead/supervise a small team of engineers

• Perform piping system thermal flexibility analyses in accordance with ASME piping codes, standards and industry practices

• Collaborate with designers, engineers, and the construction team to optimize pipe routing and support schemes

• Develop schedules, work assignments and staffing requirements to ensure successful project completion

• Issues technical part of requisitions for all piping support components required by stress analysis

• Issues technical bid evaluation for all piping support components

• Checks isometrics for construction of critical lines issued by drafting


• Minimum 15 years of of related work experience in the Oil & Gas industry, and specifically in the downstream Refining and PetChem sectors

• Minimum BS degree in Mechanical Engineering

• Experience with AIV / FIV Analysis of Piping Systems is preferred

• Proficient in basic computer programs including MS Word and Excel, web browsing and e-mail programs

• Proficient with Caesar II stress analysis software

• Competent in using Smart Plant review (SPR) or similar design review tool

• Excellent knowledge of strengths of materials, specialty support design, fluid dynamics, corrosion principals, piping vibration analysis and stress dynamics

• Exceptional organization and communication skills

• Experience with detailed design project (EPC) execution
