District Overview

Kiewit’s Western Canada District is headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia. We primarily perform heavy civil projects specializing in earth moving, transportation, roadways, bridges, water resources, and underground utilities. We are looking for hard working individuals with a passion for construction who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty! Our current opportunities are spread across the entire west coast of Canada.

Location

We currently have work all across the country in large cities and small towns, so our people must be willing to go where the work is. Job assignment location will be determined closer to your start date. Must be able to travel and relocate as business requires. Some of our current projects locations include, British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for managing and directing the engineering team by providing the communication, coordination and follow-up necessary to meet the project goals and objectives

• Maintains ongoing training and mentoring of project team

• Provides ongoing project information and project reviews as required by management

• Establishes project procedures consistent with contractual documents and the Kiewit Company Quality Plan for all engineering work

• Coordinates training and compliance measures to ensure project procedures are followed

• Monitors and ensures all discipline work is in compliance with project procedures

• Ensures all work products are consistent with industry standards and in accordance with good engineering practice and applicable codes, and in compliance with all pertinent legal codes and requirements

• Ensures scope of work, schedule, and budget are clearly defined and understood by senior management and all project participants, including client

• Determines, controls, and maintains overall project and discipline schedules and budgets

• Tracks schedule and budget progress with project milestones and takes all action necessary to keep project on track

• Identifies and secures necessary approvals for all changes in project scope, budget and/or schedule

• Maintains ongoing communication with client, making adjustments as necessary to comply with client's needs within contractual obligations, or adjusting project deliverables to meet client and Kiewit needs

• Serves as Kiewit's engineering representative with client, constructor, subcontractors, and vendors at Kick-Off meetings, job walks, project review, and other meetings and correspondence

• Maintains current working knowledge of basic engineering fundamentals and practices through continued education and continuous review of discipline improvements

• Help drive the company environmental health and safety programs at the project level, driving a safety-oriented approach to work

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree (B. S.) in engineering in any discipline from a four-year college or university

• 10+ years’ related experience and/or training, specifically in the infrastructure/heavy civil type work

• 5+ years' experience required in an engineering management position

• Must be competent in the use of computer software applications used by Kiewit for project control and administration, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook

• Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative

• Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time

• Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity

• Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt

• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

• Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals and objectives

• Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail

• Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment

• Ability to travel and relocate as business requires

• Legally entitled to work in Canada
