The Virtual Design and Construction team is seeking a Senior Engineering Design Manager to provide high level technical support and training for active design and construction projects. Position requires integration and collaboration between professional design engineers, design coordination teams, construction management team, field engineers, clients and other entities that may be involved in the design and construction of infrastructure projects. Candidate must possess extensive experience in heavy civil design and construction, roadway and site design, traffic engineering, utilities engineering, and be able to use CAE resources to solve complex design and construction problems.

The candidate must have strong computer modeling skills in both solids modeling and digital terrain modeling to generate computer models for design assessment, work planning and scheduling, quantification, and construction layout.

The candidate must be able to interpret construction drawings and details, specifications and contracts (both design and construction), and be able to express professional opinions in regards to the mentioned construction documents. The candidate may be required to assist project management in resolving design and construction issues. As a result of these requirements, the candidate must possess strong technical writing skills.

This position requires strong working knowledge of the project document control process in regards to data collaboration, drawing and document management, and the project as-built and drawing close out process.

This position includes the leadership, training and development of construction field coordinators and engineers in utilizing the use of CAE tools to generate computer models for design assessment, work planning, quantification and construction layout including machine guidance. The candidate will be required to estimate the effort required to support various project tasks and assign and schedule the work accordingly.

Applicants shall have the following minimum qualifications:

•Licensed Professional Engineer

•20 years’ experience in the design and construction industry. At least 10 years must be from professional engineering practice.

•Highly skilled in using Bentley’s Microstation and Inroads software.

•Strongly skilled in Trimble Business Center.

•Ability to use Autodesk products, including Civil3D and Navisworks.

•Ability to use 4D software such as Synchro.

•Utilize CAE software for engineering design elements such as truck turn analysis, hydrology and hydraulic analysis and traffic engineering.

•Highly skilled in the fundamentals of surveying and construction layout.
