Responsibilities

Kiewit Engineering is currently seeking a Water Market Manager / Project Manager. The Market Manager reports to the Senior Vice President – Director of Engineering Services. The Market Manager oversees and is responsible for the engineering related efforts in both the industrial and municipal water markets. Engineering assignments will include projects such as conceptual studies, project estimates, technology evaluations as well as detailed design including process selection. Projects may be engineering only or engineering and procurement as part of a larger EPC / Design Build project for Kiewit. The Market Manager will ensure that quality, client satisfaction and profitability expectations are met throughout the execution of projects. The Market Manager will coordinate with the Business Line Manager, Water to capture work. The Market Manager will also be expected initially to function as a project manager in addition to market manager responsibilities as the business grows. The Market Manager will focus on recruitment of talent to build the Water business within Kiewit Engineering. The Market Manager will coordinate with construction districts to establish a comprehensive EPC / Design – Build offering when such an approach is sought by the client and Kiewit plans to execute the work under that method. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in selling and leading engineering projects for private and public water related clients.

Tasks

Kiewit Engineering is looking for a committed, energized and highly motivated individual who has a passion for achieving excellence and wishes to join our growth in the Water market. The role will include but is not limited to the following responsibilities:

• Establish and maintain on-going high level client relationships within the water industry

• Direct the development of the project execution plan including deliverables lists, schedule, budget, and manpower projections required to successfully execute the project

• Develop internal bid/no-bid justification such as competitive position; win strategy, partnering, etc.

• Support presentation of proposals to customers including customer follow-up

• Able to lead proposal development and assist with the desired content for proposal documents and engineering estimate to successfully capture work

• Guide engineering and design professionals to execute work profitably with a high degree of quality

• Seek out design, engineering and project management talent and work with recruiters to complement our well established design departments such that we are able to capture and execute our business plan in the Water market

• Determine post proposal submittal bid strategy, answer questions and participate in closing projects

• Maintain a strong network of industry related individuals (OEM’s, 3rd Party Contractors, Developers, etc.) for the purpose of expanding Kiewit Engineering’s services and opportunities

• Ensure quality control of services and deliverables provided, in accordance with the Kiewit Company Quality Plan.

• Direct the development of the Project Execution Plan including deliverables lists, schedule, budget, and manpower projections required to successfully execute the project

• Ensure scope management so that the scope of services required by the Contract are provided and that out-of-scope work is properly compensated

• Monitor and report project progress management against the execution plan. Take appropriate corrective action if progress falls behind the plan

• Monitor, control, and report project expenditures against the budget and maintain cost management

• Develop a strong understanding of customers' current goals/objectives/plans, develop customer-specific capture plans and communicate opportunities in a timely manner

• Communicate project status to management as required

Requirements

The ideal candidate for the Water Market Manager position will possess the following qualities:

• A minimum of 10 years proven experience in the water industry (i.e. wastewater, water supply, industrial water etc)

• A minimum of 5 years proven experience as a Project Manager in the water industry

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering

• Professional Engineering (PE) license in the United States

• Strong leadership and networking skills

• Willingness to travel (25 to 50% of time) with overnight stays required

• High degree of self-motivation

• Motivated by competition, yet a team player

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Design Build Institute of America (DBIA) certification is beneficial
