The South West Calgary Ring Road Project is looking for Surveyors! Our Surveyors will be responsible for providing consistent, reliable and efficient translation of plans into field control and guidance for the operations, planning and engineering groups, as well as maintaining up-to-date as-builts and volume calculations.
Assist to complete field survey requests, measurements, setup and configuring survey instruments.
Locate primary and secondary survey evidence and control.
Interpret and extrapolate surveying data from construction and design drawings.
Install survey stake lines and survey control monuments.
Distribute survey reports and manage survey data files.
Communicate with surveyors and contractors to complete surveying tasks.
Help prepare surveying notes, grade sheets and calculate coordinates.
Completed 2 year diploma in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 1 year experience in a municipal surveying environment.
Membership with The Alberta Society of Surveying and Mapping Technologies (ASSMT) would be considered an asset.
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook and Excel), Microstation, Computer Aided Drafting & Design (CADD), report writing and records management will also be considered assets.
Technical background in surveying, using both conventional and GPS survey equipment
Motivated, self-starter who can work well independently or within a team environment
Must have a valid class 5 (or better) driver’s license with clean drivers abstract
Must be able to work under pressure
Must be able to meet all safety requirements and applicable safety policies
Proficient with field survey systems, such as Leica or Trimble, as well as familiar with field techniques such as RTK, static and conventional.
Able to work shift work as required, including night shift
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
The ability to stand, crouch and kneel for long periods of time.
Manual dexterity, balance for working on scaffolding.
Requires standing and bending over for extensive periods of time. Often requires crawling, climbing, grasping, kneeling, squatting, and twisting.
Requires working at heights, climbing and descending ladders frequently.
Candidates should be able to lift weight (50lbs), able to work on heights.
