The Canadian Resources District conducts its operations through Construction Kiewit Cie and Peter Kiewit Sons Co., subsidiaries of Kiewit Corporation. We perform work from Newfoundland to Manitoba to Quebec and in the Northwest Territories. We work in the power, mining, hydroelectric and wind power industries.
Responsibilities
This supervisor position reports to the Construction Manager or General Superintendent. Typical duties will include but not limited to supervising craft personnel; scheduling and directing work crews, preparing work plans, assuring quality control, managing and tracking costs and materials, scheduling equipment, administering safety programs and maintaining exceptional owner relations. In most cases a Superintendent will also train a Field Engineer(s) in the duties required to execute the work.
Qualifications
o BS in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering Technology or equivalent program.
o Must have a minimum of 5 years experience within the construction industry as general foreman, superintendent, or management of union labor.
o Must have experience in managing 20-50 craft employees at one time.
o Knowledge of construction safety and current Federal and OSHA requirements.
o Must be able to read and interpret drawings, specifications and implement procedures for assembly, erection and setting of equipment and components.
o Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment.
o Must have a broad understanding of technical systems.
o Must be prepared to attend meetings with customers and owners/general contractors.
o Must have a positive attitude and possess excellent motivational skills.
o Must be able to adapt to new surroundings and with new people.
o Must be able to work with a team and provide input.
o Working knowledge of computers, experience using Microsoft Excel and Word.
