Responsibilities
The selected candidate will:
* Effectively manage, schedule, and monitor inspectors,
* Review inspectors' documentation
* Ensure all required inspections are effectively performed
* Ensure that documentation to validate the inspections is properly and completely filled out showing conformance to the requirements
* Ensure that proper documentation exists for areas that are not in conformance with the requirements
* Ensure we have solid documentation validating any corrected non-conforming conditions
* Inspire and support the team to achieve the desired results of validating the project's conformance to requirements
Project Details:
The I-405 Project is a $700+ Million design-build Interstate Project located in the Los Angeles area of California which involves the construction of an HOV lane, widening of the existing lanes, utilities, and the modification or complete replacement of 24 bridges, along a 10 mile stretch of Interstate. The project is currently nearing completion of the design work, and is in the initial phase of the construction operations, with project completion slated for 2013. Kiewit is responsible for all aspects of quality, including Design Quality Control, Design Quality Assurance, Construction Quality Control and Construction Quality Assurance.
Qualifications
The qualified candidate is required to have a minimum of 5 years of experience in roadway construction inspection, preferably on state highways. This experience must be documented, and clearly explained on a suitable resume. Any certifications obtained related to this type of work should be described in your resume.
In addition, the candidate shall:
* Have a clear understanding of how to inspect all aspects of roadway construction, and the ability to perform these inspections. This includes inspection knowledge of: structure excavation & backfill, construction signs, traffic control, traffic striping & pavement markings, K-rail placement, roadway sections, drainage systems, wet utilities, dry utilities, MSE walls, AC paving, concrete paving, grading operations, miscellaneous concrete work, erosion control and highway planting.
* Be willing and able to enforce the quality program requirements
* Be familiar with ASTM/California Test Methods/AASHTO
* Possess a high-level of understanding of Department of Transportation plans and specifications
* Understand how to interpret test results
* Be comfortable working with computers
* Be able to work with our electronic document control system (Centric Project)
* Be detail oriented and organized
* Have effective time management skills
* Be an effective communicator who can interact well with craft, staff, subcontractors and owner representatives
* Be team oriented and have a track record for inspiring others
* Possess a high level of integrity and ethical standards
* Possess a strong work ethic - are willing to do what it takes to get the job done correctly
* Be willing and able to work long hours, some weekends, and nights as required by the project demands
* Have ability and desire to hold people accountable for their actions, and to praise individuals for a job well done
A letter of recommendation from a Caltrans Resident Engineer whom you have worked with is considered a plus.
